Friday Scrapbag

Well, no sun again here in Hatfield Pa. So I can't show pictures of the lovely red, white and blue fabrics I pulled from my stash. I pulled them to make a table topper for July 4th. If I start now, maybe it will be finished by then. (or maybe July 4th 2011)
So I thought you might like to see 2 more of the UFOs just waiting in line patiently to be finished.

The first one is truly a scrap quilt. It even has a pieced border of the same scrappy fabrics.
This second one is a Fons and Porter pattern. It's appliqued and pieced. I still don't have a clue what type of border this one will have.

I will be trying to finish my Oklahoma Back Roads quilt this weekend. It's one of the items on my Spring To Finish Challenge list.

Enjoy your holiday weekend. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!!!!! LUV YA!!!

Another UFO

Here's another one of those UFOs my daughter photographed last summer. I'd say it was made around 2ooo/2001 can't say exactly. I was trying to use up some of my purple stash at the time this was pieced.

The pattern can be found in this book which I purchased from The Old Country Store in Lancaster Pa. Lots of fast and easy patterns inside.
This is what it looks like quilted. Now on to the next UFO!

Update! I just looked at the book and it was released in 2003. So I guess this quilt was made between 2003 and 2005. Sorry!

Oops!

I don't know how it happened. I'm supposed to be cutting back on fabric purchases. I found these in my sewing room today! Must have been a moment of weakness.
Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to use them. I'm sure I'll think of something.

Friday Scrapbag

Here's a sampling of the many, many paper pieced blocks I've made with Sew Precise! There are a few more but I didn't have enough room to show them all. Only one of these blocks has actually been made into a quilt.

It's the purple and fuchsia heart block near the center of the picture. It's leftover from the quilt below. This is another one of the small quilts hanging in my sewing room.
Happy Quilting!

I Won

I won this new magazine in a giveaway on The Selvage Blog! Thank you Karen! I'm so happy to have this magazine and of course she included a selvage! This book arrived just in time.
I need some ideas for these small blocks. They are 2in x 2 1/4in, very small. They are leftovers from the Bright Log Cabin quilt.
This is another UFO that I'm almost finished. Yippee!!!!!!!!!

Wayback Wednesday

Not feeling too much like blogging today, so only a few words about this quilt.
It's one of my first experiments with black and white with brights. It was completed in the late 1990's. It covers all the things I like; color, black and white and the Log Cabin block!
This quilt hangs on the wall in my sewing room.
Here's one more beautifully colored Pansy!

Friday Scrapbag

Happy, happy Friday! I must confess I haven't gotten much sewing done this week. I've just been doing a lot of nothing. It's not like I spent time cleaning the house or anything! I did start a little cross body bag to carry my ID in while I'm riding my bicycle. (it's almost finished).
The Batik fabric in the HSTs below is leftover from the Sea Foam Slide show quilt. That's what's on the design wall (along with a few stray threads). These blocks will become a table runner. Hopefully.

I thought you might like to see the last of my Clematis. At one time I had four, but unfortunately the white one was eaten by beetles. This one has wound itself around a Firecracker Weigela.
Have a beautiful weekend!

Wayback Wednesday

I know I'm a day late for Wednesday, but yesterday I was visiting the Podiatrist.
I've been limping around on a bad foot for a while, so it was time to get checked out.
Turns out I have what I expected, Plantar fasciitis and a bone spur. Ouch! So after ex rays a shot and meds I get to go back next week for some apparatus for my foot when I'm sleeping. Yea!

This is a quilt I made sometime in the late 90's. I don't remember when, but until I received the quilt from Em, this is the quilt I always wrapped up in. It's also hand quilted and I've been thinking about adding some more quilting, as it has no quilting in the borders.
I'm so happy we actually have sun today and I was able to take pictures outside again.
Spring is wonderful!

A Quilt and a Surprise

I must apologize for these pictures up front. Here in Pa. there is no sunshine. So no natural light for photos. Anyway, this is Sea Foam Slide Show. I started this last fall and finally finished it as part of my effort to get some of these UFOs done. I'm not crazy about the quilting, I used a different polyester batting ( I don't think that helped). Well at least, it's done.
This is another one of those books I'm purging, I have about 8 more left. If you would like to have it, just be the first to ask, and it's yours!
And lastly, this is what I got for Mother's Day. Yea! So I've been biking to school this week to do my volunteer work. I sure do need the exercise!

Friday Scrapbag

These blocks are leftover from a quilt I made in 2000. It hangs on the wall outside my sewing room. I enjoyed making these paper pieced blocks. Some of the the first paper pieced blocks I ever made. I used the Sew Precise program by EQ.
I took them out because I will be making a tote bag with them. (one of those ideas you have while lying in bed) I hope the bag looks as good as it did in my head.

Here is the quilt. When I thought it was finished, it wasn't. So I set giant plate on top of it drew a line around the plate, and cut on the line. Yes, it really wanted to be a circle!
I have to say, this is one of my favorite quilts ever.

This is what I spent today working on. It's almost finished, just needs binding. Yea!
Have a wonderful weekend. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Goodies And Totes

While we were at the Shad Fest in Lambertville NJ I picked up these goodies. Most of the white buttons are shell. The others are rhinestone. The fabric is a home dec remnant by Thomaspaul for Duralee. It was a good price so I just couldn't pass it up.

I haven't posted about this before but I make tote bags! My sister sells them for me. They're all original, one of a kind (I really don't like making the same bag twice) I make my own patterns. I enjoy making them mostly because they don't take as much time as a quilt, so it's instant gratification! I knew I would make a tote with this fabric when I purchased it.

So now a tote it is! I even put hand stitching on this one. Although you can't tell by the pictures.
Now I'm off to do some machine quilting. I need to get some more UFOs done.

Hot Sunday

It's been so hot here this weekend, but that's ok. Warm weather has brought me surprises. While I was out doing yard work I discovered these. The Clematis are blooming!
