T.G.I.F. !

Remember this picture? Well today's post is not really a" Thank Goodness It's Finished" but rather I finally get to share it. This baby bento box quilt was made for my neighbor, who just had a baby boy. I didn't want to post it before now because I didn't want to spoil the surprise. I hope she likes the colors I chose (I'm not one of those pink for girls blue for boys people).

I'm pretty pleased with the result. I will definitely be making another bento box quilt in the future!
The fabrics I used are Connecting Threads, Joann, Robert Kaufman, Fabri-Quilt and one other that I have no information on. Two of these fabrics have been in my stash forever! I think it's great how you can mix the old with the new and it all works!
Hurray for my stash! (always knew there was a good reason for a closet full of fabric).

Have a great weekend!

Wayback Wednesday

Today for "Wayback Wednesday" I thought I'd show something different.
In my profile I said I enjoy embroidery. Well, while in the on going process of purging my sewing room I found these.

These are parts of jean legs which were embroidered by me in the 70's. (can you tell?) The Palm tree was a big hit. I did quite a few of them and made a little cash for my efforts. Everything was done free hand. I actually drew the tree onto the jeans with an ink pen!
Now that I've found them, maybe they will find their way into a quilt.

Here's a picture of our resident "Lioness" enjoying her summer. She loves being out doors. Are you enjoying your summer?

Snowball Idea?

I know, I know, I know! These are really bad pictures but I think I've found a solution to the snowball issue. I was so excited I forgot CFL's make the worst lighting for pictures. What do you think? I haven't decided how many blocks I'm going to make yet. I really do like black and white.

Saturday Scrapbag

Started pulling these fabrics for the next quilt I have in mind. I seem to have a Turquoise thing going on lately. This is what's on the design wall at the moment. Sorry about the picture.

Tablerunner in progress. Made from scraps (of course) and Kona Coal!
It's soooooooo HOT here I'm getting lots of work done, indoors! We are expecting 100 degrees today. How about you? Are you quilting?

Busy

If you were here with me, or had scratch and sniff or smellovision on your computer, You'd know that these pincushions smell great! I made them yesterday with a little sand on the bottom for weight. Some fiber fill and lavender,

which comes from my husbands garden. They really do smell wonderful and I'm pretty pleased with the way they turned out.
I've been working on lots of different things this week. A needle book for my sister, pincushions, these burp cloths (below), a baby quilt and curtains for my powder room. Wow, that is a lot. Guess you don't know until you stop and count. I'm off to make dinner. After that I'll be working on a quilt from a previous post. Happy Quilting!

Lucky Again!

Lucky Lucky me! I won a Joann gift certificate in a giveaway on the Quilt Inspiration blog.
I already know what I will buy. Remember those curved pins?

On a similar note, my baby brother will be returning to England next week after being home for his big birthday. He asked me to send him pictures of some of the Liberty of London fabric I would like to have! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Scrapbag

More lovelies I couldn't pass up while I was away last week. Black and white to add to my collection. Two pieces of Paisley Party that I'd been looking for. Also two new fabrics from Moda and of course the Perle Cotton. Here on the bottom is a piece of flannel for a few burp cloths. A piece of fabric for a special gift and my favorite purchase of all, curved basting pins! Oh my goodness, why did I wait so long to get these pins. They are the best! No more straight ones for me!

T.G.I.F. !

Today my "thank goodness it's finished" quilt is a UFO. It was started sometime in the late 1990's. It is paper pieced using Sew Precise. This is the only pineapple quilt I've made. As I remember I liked making this block, so maybe a new scrappy one should be in the works.
The backing that I chose proved to be a mistake. I like the look of it but the fabric didn't play nice with Jasmine. It just didn't want to glide across the bed of the machine. I have 2 more yards of this fabric and I also have it in another print. Won't make that mistake again!

Enjoy your weekend!

Wayback Wednesday

Today my Wayback Wednesday quilt is the first one I made for my daughter. It's a rail fence and I hand quilted hearts in the center of each block. This quilt was used "a big whole lot" as she used to say. It's getting pretty thin in some places. At one time it was even used in her lavender bedroom as a cover on her night table. Now it rests in a drawer, because the lavender room has given way to a teal and brown room. Remember this post? It's about the baby gift I forgot to photograph. Well I was going through some old photos on the family computer and I came across this. This picture shows the quilt in progress, even though it isn't the final layout and it's missing the borders. Now you see why I named it Baby Argyle.

Back To Snowballs

Today I finished a baby blanket, quilted another UFO and finally got back to my Snowball blocks I think I should find a few multi color dot fabrics. These look a little boring. You know how I feel about color, you can't have too much! These are fabrics I picked up in Massachusetts last week when we visited Boston U.
I really like paisley, so you know I couldn't resist this one. The dots are for the snowball quilt and I just couldn't pass up the cute birds.

Happy Birthday and Goodies!

I'm just getting around to posting pictures of the goodies my sister brought me back from England. She went to visit our brother who has a big birthday today! HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY baby brother! I LOVE YOU!
My sister purchased the fabric from a quilt shop. Sorry I don't know the name. The book she got from a garage sale, flea market. The goodies below she got from a trip to Hershey Pa. a few weeks back.
I'm so lucky! Lots of goodies and gadgets to play with.
I got lots of loot when I was on the college tour circuit also. I will post pictures soon. Right now I have to get some sewing done.

T.G.I.F. !

I don't know why I had soooooooooo much trouble making these booties. I'd already made them a year ago out of this cute Ducky fabric. These are the booties from Amy Butler's book little stitches for little ones. The first time no problem, but this time everything went wrong. First, the lavender fabric was supposed to be the lining, but due to me putting the velcro on the wrong side, the dot fabric became the lining. Next I put the sole on wrong so the outside was the inside.
I worked on these last night but I had so many problems, they weren't finished until this afternoon.
My sister will be giving these booties as a gift. I hope the new mother likes them! Whew!!!!!!!!

HAPPY 4TH !!!!!!!!!!
