Easter Cactus?

Thank you for all the help picking lattice fabric yesterday. It seems most of you liked the green. I liked the green best also, but when I laid out all of the blocks I didn’t like it as much. So I went to plan “B”. Check the stash.

                         The Loot! 123

This is what I found. I like it with the three lattice fabric choices but not with the blocks because some of the blocks have aqua squares. It just didn’t work. So I went to plan “C”. You know what that is of course, go fabric shopping. So there is a fabric shopping trip in my future, maybe this weekend.

I don’t know if it’s the weather or what but my Christmas Cactus is blooming again!

What’s Working on Wednesday

I’m feeling a bit better today. Last night I finished the binding on the Moda Nouveau stacked coins quilt.

                      QUILTS! 267

Today I pieced these four patch blocks which will be set with a lattice ( no corner stones). I need a little help. Which of these fabrics would you choose for the lattice? The brown, green or pink?

Sorry, I know this is not a great picture. I took it with my iPad.

Thanks for the well wishes. I’m off to put some heat on the legs. It seemed to help last night, so I hope it helps a bit more.

Nothing But Sitting

A few weeks back I decided to get my butt in gear and start walking again. The first week went very well and the weather was beautiful here. Then the weekend rolled around and I got that little bug, so I only got to walk once. So I knew I’d make up for it this week, not so fast, I woke up Sunday morning in agony. The pinched nerve is back. I felt a little twinge last week but I ignored it in hopes it would go away. It’s affecting my Sciatic nerve now, so there’s pain in both legs most of the time. Of course there’s no pain if I sit, only when I walk!

You might think with all the sitting I’ve been doing lots of sewing, NOT! I’ve been doing taxes. Yes, I waited until the last minute as usual. So I only have one picture to share. It’s the Katie quilt waiting to be finished. STILL!!!

I Had To Do It!

I had to get Flea Market Fancy. I missed out the first time.

                  The Loot! 118

Now I need to find a special project for it. I’ve picked one out for the Picnic and Fairgrounds lines. I hope to start that quilt by May. I’m determined not to start until I finish a few more PIPs. The next PIP will be the Katie quilt. I think.

I’ve quilted the stacked coins quilt and I will bind it today. Thank you for the help with my bobbin situation, I think I have a plan now.

What’s Working on Wednesday

This Wednesday what’s working is not very much. I caught a little bug while shopping with my DD for supplies to take back to school. So I haven’t done much sewing.

If you can ignore the flannel kitty remnant that I used as a portable design wall you can just about make out the new baby quilt I will be piecing today.

I did complete the stacked coins quilt top. It’s sandwiched and waiting to be quilted.

And since I didn’t spend much time in the sewing room I had lots of time to work on this shawl made with Bamboo yarn.

                 CROCHET 127

I was wondering if I’m the only one who has a problem with bobbins. Here’s the thing, I use so many different threads when I quilt I’ve been getting the bobbins mixed up. So now I have little containers with each threads bobbin, you know Aurifil, Gutermann, Superior. Is there an easier way? There’s gotta be!

Scrap Happy Saturday

Happy National Quilting Day!

I took a few pink scraps and combined them with black to make what I call Good & Plenty blocks. You know, like the candy. I like the pink and black combination but I actually like gray and pink best. I don’t know how far I’m going to take this but they are fun to make.

For my birthday this year my DS gave me a Connecting Threads gift card. Lucky me, here’s a picture of the loot.

What’s Working on Wednesday

Those of you who’ve been reading my blog since the beginning may remember my love of Moda’s Nouveau fabric line. Well I’m sad to say this is the last of it.

            Scrap Thingy's 416

I pieced these strips. There are 4 of them.

            Scrap Thingy's 417

I am going to pair them with my favorite dot fabric from Connecting Threads for a Stacked Coins baby quilt.

             Scrap Thingy's 420

Those pink squares from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge will not be around for the Basket Weave quilt.

Update, look at them now!

My DD has named this Cherry Blossom and it is now in my shop.

Today’s post is being linked to the Quiltsy blogs WIP Wednesday. Go take a look and check out what everyone else is doing.

Scrap Happy Saturday

I have so many projects going on and so many more I’d like to start it’s about time I get organized! Sharon @ Vroomans Quilts has figured out how to make one project count for two. So this week knowing I had to finally start making Basket Weave blocks for my “In Love With Strings!” group I made them pink!

Another PIP

Another PIP finished! Some of you might remember this one from this post last year. Well it has turned into a table topper. I didn’t want to add a solid and I don’t think I’d like this in a lap sized quilt. So here it is, most likely headed to my shop.

We are having absolutely beautiful weather here right now! I hope you are as well!

Scrap Happy Saturday

The color for March is pink! It’s the perfect color for me. I have lots of pink. Lots of fat quarters and too bins of various sized scraps. Since we’re not supposed to use our yardage I won’t mention the 2 stacks about 15 inches high that I have in my stash.

              Scrap Thingy's 395

I used a few of these and finally made a cover for the mini book.

T.G.I.F.

Well sort of. I thought this would be a “thank goodness it’s finished” like the ones before it, but sadly it’s not.

            QUILTS! 250

I pieced this quilt in the very beginning of January. I used a charm pack some fabric from my stash and my favorite moda muslin. After it was pieced I knew it needed some large borders to add color and size. I ordered the border fabric added them and it was ready to quilt last week. It took 5 bobbins to quilt and lots of time. I was so very happy it was completed yesterday, I hung it in my sewing room to get a good look. I had already decided to put it in my Etsy shop. Well not so fast. Upon hanging it I discovered when I pieced it I’d switched row 1 and row 2. So instead of the staggered affect I had in mind it’s down, up, up!

         QUILTS! 248

I guess this quilt will now be loved by some member of my family.

The day was not a total loss, I did get this quilted.
