Birthday Giveaway and More

Yes today is my birthday! I’m long past the age where I like to celebrate so I’m having this giveaway so you can celebrate!

This is the newest line by Denyse Schmidt, Aunt Edna available at Joann. I really love the yellow-gold and gray. Those of you who are interested in purchasing this fabric be warned it’s $12.99 a yard! I used a coupon to purchase it and that only helped a little. I chose 4 FQs of the Far Meadow colorway.

                             The Loot! 107

December 30th was the 2 year anniversary of my blog! Since I was still a bit disorganized by the Christmas season I forgot all about it. So I am having a second giveaway of Picnic Parade FQs from my stash.

                             The Loot! 109

To enter both giveaways all you need do is answer this question What colors are you looking forward to using in a quilt this year? For me it’s yellow and gray.

I will leave this giveaway open until February 11th and announce the winners on February 12th. The first name pulled will get Aunt Edna, the second Picnic Parade.

Last Red Rainbow Scrap Saturday

I didn’t really work on anything red this week. I was too busy piecing my string quilt and working on these.

Which reverse to these.

I needed to make all this baby stuff for my sister’s first grand who decided to come early. The shower is today and his quilt is not quite finished.

I also worked on this, which is the second PIP!

These are the first string blocks I ever made. I have completed 4 string quilts since I created them. It really is time for them to become a quilt.

Polka Dots make everything wonderful!!!!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2012 (a little late)

After the problems I had with my Juki trying to quilt the table runner  I have decided to do a little hand stitching on it.

I hope to be finished by the end of the week. I’ll be happy to move on to the next color.

I’m linking up today with Beth’s Pincushion Parade. I’ve got lots of them. I enjoy making them and I do have a few that were gifts.

Ooops! Not So Fast

Well this is not a good thing! I cleaned and oiled my machine as I usually do after not using it for a while. I changed the needle and the foot and made all the necessary adjustments. And look what I have to show for it. This is the back of my Aqua and Red table topper.

The top thread kept breaking also. So I adjusted the tension, I suppose it could be the thread. Any ideas on what else I can do would be greatly appreciated.

At this rate I’ll never get those Pips quilted!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2012

I worked with a few more red scraps this week. I decided strips were the way to go this time. I grabbed random strips from the bin and created a piece of fabric. I quilted it, added a backing and now I have this

                         Scrap Thingy's 349

I also used two of my red blocks from last week to make a table topper for my breakfast room. It’s not quite finished. I really love the red and aqua combination!

Lots of Pips! (and no Gladys)

Oh my! Piles and piles of these,

                       The Loot! 103

                       The Loot! 104

Have led to lots and lots of these!

I have 15 quilts ( not including the ones that are out of sight) in different stages that really need finishing. Some just need quilting, but others……. well let’s just say may or may not be on the design wall!

I’m determined to get them all done this year!

Being that it’s the new year and all are you working on your Pips? Or have you started a new project?

Pips = Projects in Progress, not the singers!

Rainbow Scraps Challenge II

I've joined Angela again this year for the Rainbow Scraps Challenge. The first color of the year is Red! I didn't have any red last year and I don't have much this year but I thought I could do 2 1/2 inch squares. Then I got an idea, each month I'm going to make 2 sets of blocks using 2 1/2 squares. If I keep on track I'll have enough blocks for a quilt I will donate at the end of the year.
This is how I'm going to piece the blocks.

                                                           Ta Da! Simple right?

New Year New UFOs!

I'm really happy to welcome in the new year. Just like everyone else I had a number of things to get done last year. Well some things were done and some, well, not so much. So with the new year I have lots of opportunity to get a head start on all the UFOs from last year and start making some new UFOs!
I've joined Stephanie at Loft Creations so now I'm a Pipster. (see button on sidebar) I will be working towards getting some of my "projects in progress" finished. I surely hope to get more done this year than last. You may recall I wanted to get 12 charity projects done, one each month. Well I only managed 4 and a few blocks for Margaret's Hope Chest.
So this week sees me armed and ready to take on the challenge of finishing the UFOs!
Wish me luck! Maybe you'd like to join the Pipsters!

And so this post isn't entirely about my failure to finish everything I start, look beautiful fabric!
I joined the Serious Stash Swap at 15 Minutes Play and look what I received from my swap partner Mary! I just love the black and white prints.
