Today I …….

Made a quick bag for my yarn swift that I’ve had for a few months now. I wanted to protect the wood and keep it clean. So I dug into the scrap pile and found this fabric that I would never use alone (it was destined to be in a scrap quilt only). I paired it with another scrap and made my swift a cover.

I also finally got Katie quilted! Now I just have to decide on binding. Any suggestions? I have enough of the border fabric or I was thinking about red and white polka dot, it’s a very tiny dot. What do you think?

What’s Working on Wednesday

I don’t want you to think I spent all my time on Assateague Island taking pictures with my cell phone. I did have a little project to work on while I was on the beach.

                     CROCHET 335

I actually finished the scarf/shawlette for my DD. We are very pleased with the results and can’t wait to see how it opens up after blocking.

Today I plan to do a bit more hand stitching on this WIP!

This is what it looked like as a flimsy. It’s so old I’m really embarrassed to show it. I’m going to be very happy when it’s done!

I am linking up with the Quiltsy WIP Wednesday today!

It’s Raining!

It’s raining here today and boy do we need it. I know lots of places in the US could use it as well. I’m going to spend some time in the sewing room today doing machine quilting and working on these blocks on the design wall.

(Sorry this isn’t the best picture.)

I’ll also be creating something from the blue scrap bin. (actually this is one of the bins, there are 2)

I hope to work on this scarf/shawlette for my DD this evening. I’d like to have it finished and blocked for her to take back to school at the end of August.

What’s Working on Wednesday

I’ve been working on lots of things lately. Some of which are crocheted.

Some of the things I’ve worked on can be eaten.

But today I’m working on these. Thanks to a giveaway from last year at Bumble Beans of a FQP of Soliel by Annette Tatum.

Seeing Dots!

I went a little dot crazy with my last few fabric purchases. I really couldn’t resist them. I mean I might not have enough yet!

Well I rationalized the black and white and white and black dots in this group by saying they really belong in my black and white print collection. LOL

I did finish the binding on this quilt yesterday.

That just about does it for the Sugar and Spice fabrics. So next I’ll be using these.

This is Vintage Modern. I’m in love with the colors in this line not to mention ( you guessed it) the dots! I don’t have a pattern in mind yet but I’m working on it.

Enjoy your weekend!

A Little Vacation

We took a mini vacation to the DE. and MD. beaches recently. Except for being told to leave the beach because of severe storms with lightening, it was a relaxing time.

That’s not the only thing I’ve been doing. I finally took a trip to The Sauder Store!

I know, I know, I live in PA. only about an hour and a half away. I’ve been to their sister store Zooks lots of times. I’ve even blogged about it. Don’t ask me what took so long. The prices are wonderful and I had lots of fun! MY DD the budding seamstress even made her first fabric purchase!

                      The Loot! 136

I got these for for quilt backing, $3.99 a yard!

                      The Loot! 138

I got this stack for my stash. I couldn’t resist the aqua fabric on top with the bubbles.

Don’t let the small size of this store fool you. There was so much fabric there I think I might have missed some of it. Batiks, flannel, solids, batting, interfacing, thread, books and oh did I mention bulk dry foods and spices.

I enjoyed my trip to The Sauder Store! I think it’s a definite must do if you’re visiting Lancaster!

And the fabric acquisitions don’t stop there. When I arrived home there were a few squishies waiting for me! I’m saving those for another post.
