What’s Working on Wednesday

Today I am so very thankful! I am blessed! Many, many others were not as lucky as me. Some are homeless, some don’t have electricity, some have been injured and there have even been deaths. So I am extremely great full today. Thank you all for your comments and well wishes. They are very appreciated!

Today is the first day I’ve been able to do any sewing. I worked on a few of those mini journals I usually make for craft shows and as throw ins with other gifts.

I finished piecing this table runner on Saturday. It’s so strange with all the fabric I have, I still don’t have enough red fabric. It wasn’t easy finding enough to make this Christmas runner. Doesn’t look like I have the right greens either. Lol

I was worried about all the trees in the back yard, not these pines that border the neighbors house!

Lots of cleanup ahead of us!

SANDY!

I have packed a bag and have the cat carrier ready. I’m so worried that one of the 20 or so trees in my back yard will end up on my house I need to be prepared!

I’m praying that everyone in the path of the storm will be safe!

What’s Working on Wednesday

What’s working today is binding. I’ve been doing lots of that lately. That’s a good thing I guess cause it means some things are getting finished. They’ve been plucked from the pile of the poor unfortunate ones that are still waiting. So sad…….

Here is one of the table runners from last week.

                photo (66)

I had a hard time deciding what color thread to use on this one. I finally chose Teal from Connecting Threads. I really like the result. Here’s a close up.

I made this mini quite a while ago. V at 15 minutes play had a mini swap back in April of 2011. ( I’m embarrassed) Anyway, I made two of these, one for my partner and one for me with the rest of the scraps. Well it finally has a binding!

On the crochet front, I’ve finished this little scarf/shawlette complete with tassels.

I’ve also added to the stash with these lovelies! All different designers, it was a good sale!

Ok it’s back to work for me. I’m trying to stock up my Etsy for the holidays and get a few things made for a Christmas craft show.

Scraps

I spent Friday digging into my scrap bin. As I’ve said before I have the scrap mother load! Anyway in an effort to purge a few more scraps I started a small 9 patch.

        photo (54)

I started with a few blocks and ended the day with a small quilt, but I’m not going to stop here. I will be adding another round. Should it be 2 1/2 inch squares all around or more 9 patch blocks for the second round? What do you think?

Yesterday was my 21st wedding anniversary. DH and I will be celebrating this weekend. Honeyman I want you to know I’d marry you again today!

What’s Working on Wednesday

What’s working today is one holiday table runner that needs quilting.

            photo (49)

And another that I just finished piecing. Both are headed to my Esty shop.

            photo (50)

My evening yarn adventures have been paying off nicely. I’ve finished another shawl. I put beads on this one. Now I’ll have some idea what to do when I get to the beading on this shawl.

               photo (51)

Here’s a close up of the beads. This shawl just needs blocking and then it’s on to the rest of the crochet WIPs. Yes, I have crochet WIPs too!

Seeing Spots, and Ghastlies!

I got some packages in the mail! This is Spot On from Robert Kaufman. I’m lovin’ these dots cause you can never have too many! These will find their way into a dot quilt which is in the developmental stages right now. AKA my head.

                photo (47)

I also received  a package from Sharon at Vroomans Quilts of Ghastlies fabric. I’m so excited to receive them because I wasn’t able to get any last year. She even sent some blocks that she made which will become a table runner for my breakfast room. Thanks so much Sharon!

Don’t you just love squishy mail?

What’s Working on Wednesday

I have finally finished the quilting on the Fandango quilt. I hope to make the binding today and stitch it on. Then I’ll have something to stitch while watching football on Sunday.

               photo (42)

You might remember these from a previous post. Well yesterday I dug into the scrap bin and made few more.

              photo (44)

Today I’m adding some strips here and there in efforts to turn this into a wall hanging or table runner. Thing is I have so many scraps I could make string blocks everyday for the rest of the year and still have scraps left! While I’m on the subject of scraps, inquiring minds want to know. Do you separate your solid scraps from your print scraps?

I’ve linked up with Quiltsy and WIP Wednesday today.

This is really, really late but since I’ve covered my other siblings on my blog this year, my DS had a birthday on OCT. 1st.

                         HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pela!!!!

What’s Working on Wednesday

I hope to get a chance today to cut into this stack of Riley Blake Verona. I’ve had it for quite a while and the colors would be great in my family room.

              Scrap Thingy's 475

I’ll make something really simple like this,

             etsy 015

just squares. I hope to do a little FMQ experimenting on it. Nothing too fancy but it’s long past time for me to get comfortable with more than meandering.

It’s a Rainy Tuesday

It’s supposed to rain all day today. It’s a good day for soup, time in the sewing room and maybe even reading a book.

Today I’m finishing up the orange scrap blocks from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  This month’s color is brown! Should be interesting.

                    Scrap Thingy's 483

I’ll also working on my Fall Festival Shawl tonight while watching TV. I’m getting close to the end and I want to add beading to the edge of this shawl. Wish me luck, I’ve never added beads to a crochet project before.

                     CROCHET 352

                     CROCHET 354

The baby blanket is almost finished. It just needs a border, which is a good thing because I want to make fingerless mitts for my DD and I have another shawl lined up.

I went King of Prussia to the Apple store and got my iPad fixed on Saturday. So now I’m doing the “happy” dance!

Enjoy your Tuesday! I’m linking up with  Connie for Linky Tuesday. Go check it out.

Update the orange mini is finished!
