What’s Working on Wednesday

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a good day in the sewing room. My DH was on the road and DD is away at school so it was just me and the kitties.

I spent some of my time putting binding on the gray and yellow Denyse Schmidt stacked coins quilt.

I also put polka dot binding on this Vintage Modern quilt.

And then of course I worked on these dots! This is Spot On and I must say I really love the print but I’m not too happy with the fabric. Maybe it’s me but it feels a bit thin.

What’s Working on Wednesday

Mug rugs and crochet is what’s working. I’ve finished up a couple of mug rugs I’d started last week. I hope to bind them today.

I don’t really collect scissors but I’ve just realized I have a little more than a couple of pairs of embroidery scissors. A few were gifts, so I guess that justifies the collection.

2 storks, a kitty, classic pair of Gingher and a scary pair. The silver stork scissors with the green gel protector are kept in my crochet bag. And speaking of crochet I’ve started a new shawl. It’s the Simple Scallops shawl. I just started it last night before bed. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be one of those TV watching projects, but we’ll see. Maybe there will be some easy repeats once I get further along.

Next in Line

Since I will be finishing up the UFOs I’ve pulled out recently, I thought I’d show you what’s next.

                 Blog 262

First up is this Moda  Rouenneries charm pack. I’ve paired it with Leaflets from Connecting threads. I think I see triangles for this quilt.

Next I have Moda Salt Air. I have no idea what I will do with this fabric. I really do love the colors in this line though. I’m open to suggestions.

And finally on the crocheting front, I’ve finished another cowl.

This was really fast and easy. I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Tide Pool. I actually like this yarn more than I expected. It draped much more than I thought it would, which was a pleasant surprise.

Next up on the hook is another shawl that I hope to start this evening.

What’s Working on Wednesday

A fast drive by post today. There’s a new to me cowl pattern I’d like to start crocheting today.

I finished this table runner for my Etsy shop. I am not a fan of heart fabric so needless to say I don’t have any in my stash. I did come across these scraps that were given to me so I used them up yesterday.

Have you seen these blocks allover blogland? Bonnie Hunter did this post a while back and I’ve seen them on Instagram also. Well the bug finally bit me so here are my first two blocks

I don’t know if you really want to check out this post because you might get hooked. The blocks are so easy. But it is a good way to use up your scraps!

Still Busy

I’ve been working on forgotten projects and blocks as I make an attempt to clear the clutter from the sewing room. Do you have one of those baskets that you throw projects in that don’t quite look like you envisioned them? Colors are wrong or maybe you couldn’t decide if it was finished or needed borders. Looks like I have lots of those! Well it’s my mission this week to get them finished or make them disappear!

These are the ones I worked on yesterday

I want to work on these this morning and start quilting the whole bunch this evening.

I know I’m going to be very happy to have this basket emptied. I’ll be so happy, I’ll probably fill it back up in a matter of months. And so it continues……….

What’s Working on Wednesday

Lots of small things being completed here this week. I finished a few mug rugs requested by my DS which I will deliver on Sunday when DD goes back to school.

I’ve also finished this shawlette for my SIL. She likes purple!

I’ve started a new Pineapple shawl. This is my first time crocheting Pineapples, I’m very excited to see how this comes out.

Today I hope to work on a few Valentine mug rugs and table runners. Starting with this pile of pink prints.

I have 3 quilts ready for quilting that I hope to work on later in the week. I don’t know how long this “get it done” thing is going to last but I’m riding it to the end!

How about you, are you super charged and getting lots done thanks to the new year?

2013 The Year I Work From My Stash!

The new year is starting  off with a bang! I’ve gotten more done in the first 4 days than the last 4 months of 2012.

I finished 2 cosmetic bags, a wall hanging from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, a table runner and a mini quilt.

I also finally got around to using a charm pack of Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille. There’s no telling how long I’ve had it. Which brings me to this, after piecing the squares I started hunting for fabric for borders. Polka dots or some small flower print. Well I couldn’t find anything in polka dot and I didn’t even look for the flower print because I didn’t have a color that would work. So I scoured Etsy and came up with one of the gray floral prints in the charm pack. I don’t know what it was the made me hesitate but once I had the fabric in my cart I decided to take one more look in the stash. Then I found it, 1 yard of the exact fabric I was about to purchase! So now I realize, one my stash is not as organized as I thought and two I really need to stick to my self imposed fabric diet!

So goals for this year are, getting my sewing room more organized especially fabric and thread. My number two goal is to use what I have and donate what I can’t use. If I stick with it I should only have to buy batting. I do have a birthday coming up though and I don’t want my family to think I won’t accept a gift card or two from Joann! Lol
