What’s Working on Wednesday

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a good day in the sewing room. My DH was on the road and DD is away at school so it was just me and the kitties.

I spent some of my time putting binding on the gray and yellow Denyse Schmidt stacked coins quilt.

I also put polka dot binding on this Vintage Modern quilt.

And then of course I worked on these dots! This is Spot On and I must say I really love the print but I’m not too happy with the fabric. Maybe it’s me but it feels a bit thin.

Can't wait to see what you're doing with all those dots!!! I have noticed some fabric feel rough, some thin, some smooth as silk. Serious fraying drives me nuts the most.

I love those dots too..but it really disappoints me if I paid good money for fabric and it feels thin. :( I love all of your stuff!!!!!

Getting down to the binding is a hugh sigh isn't it? I think the quality of fabrics has really gotten poor of late - they are paying less wages to manufacture overseas, charging us a huge amount for it, and then it is garbage.

Fun projects. Yeah, yesterday I was working with some "quality" quilt fabric and finding myself very disappointed with the thinness. It wasn't the fine-thread thin of batiks, but a wide-spaced weave thinness. I was rather miffed as it was expensive, too.

I missed your big day, happy belated birthday! I'm a dot lover too, and for awhile I was adding those and bright colors to my stash. They're fun to work with.

Belated Birthday Wishes Char! Your quilt labels are so cute! I am a dot lover too, so can't wait to see what you do wtih those, but like you, thin fabrics annoy me, particularly for what fabric costs these days.
