Labor Day Weekend

Wow just like that, the summer is over! I'm not sad, I love Autumn and Winter, Summer not so much.

We took our annual trip to Assateague Island a few weeks ago. It was so hot (land breeze) and the flies were terrible. It really was the worst beach day I've ever experienced in my life. The best part of the trip was taking the Cape May/ Lewes Ferry. Even though I was born in Pa. it was my first time on the ferry.

We had lots of great food

All in all I guess it was a good vacation!

I've completed lots of bowls, bags and other items over the summer. Here are just a few.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

June Already?

I've been really busy lately. Lots of things going on outside. Like slowly cleaning up what winter left behind on the patio.

I need to make 2 new pillows for the lounge chairs and then I'm done!

I have done a bit of sewing. Of course some coiled rope items

I started working on a new table runner as well.

Hoping to start work on a new quilt and finish up a few WIPs this week. Also I need to finish a few more item for my swap partner's birthday package.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Spring has Sprung!

I think most of us near the east coast thought Spring would never arrive. Well it's here and I have blooms to prove it.

I've also put handles on the rope bag. I like the bamboo handles on this bag so much more that the plastic handles I'd chosen in the beginning. This bag is in my sewing room now filled with new fabric. Sooner or later she'll be out in the wild on a shopping adventure.

I've made a few new project bags for my Etsy shop.

And I've been busy crocheting in the evenings. I finished this birthday gift. It's a wrap made with Scheepjes Whirl.

I am donating a quilt again this year to Hands2Help. This year my quilt is going to Little Lambs
Foundation for Kids. I'm hoping some little one enjoys the bright colors in this quilt!

Scraps Again!

I decided at the beginning of the year that I would try to use as many scraps as possible this year. This really isn't difficult because I have tons of scraps! Scraps in all shapes and sizes. This weekend I took a pile of batik scraps and started working on a coiled rope tote bag.

It took days to get this finished, but I'm very happy with it and now I'm trying to decide on handles. I am going to use purchased handles on this bag. As you can see there are quite a few batik scraps left.
I think I will make more totes but they will be much smaller (try lunch tote size) and I'll probably finish them with rope handles.

Have a wonderful week!

Rainy Day!

It's another rainy Spring day in beautiful Hatfield. I just wish it would stop long enough to dig in the yard. I guess I'll have to be content to stay in the house sewing and crocheting.
I've finish another improv piece made with scraps. As usual it didn't make a dent in the scrap bins.

I've also finished the Sew Cherry 2 table topper.

I finished this red, white and blue bowl and it sold yesterday. I'd already made another one, think I should make a few more!

Today I'm going to be working on bibs, burp cloths and bowls. I'm really hooked on making batik bowls right now!
Enjoy your day, even if it's raining!!⛆🌂

Oops, It's Spring Again!

Yes it's been over a year since I blogged. I don't know how that keeps happening. I keep saying I'm going to blog more but I never seem to find the time. It's going to have to be something I start putting in my schedule, maybe in the evenings after dinner.

Today I want to introduce you to my friend Catherine. She's started a blog, it's about handmade things. She quilts, sews garments and I call her "the sock whisperer" because boy can she knit socks!! (she knits other things as well) Check her out at catherinemadeit.blogspot.com

I've been busy with all the usual things. Making items for my Etsy shop,

I've also made and gifted quite a few shawls.

Today I will be binding this table topper made with Sew Cherry 2

I hope it's finally Spring where you are today, enjoy!
