Beautiful Weather

We've had some pretty nice weather the past few days. Although the flowers, trees and gardens needed the rain I'm real happy to see a little sunshine. The weather cleared up enough for my DH to put up the new mailbox. Ours was a victim of the snowplow in the only real storm we had this past winter.
I was able to get a few pictures on the lawn of the coiled rope rug I just finished.
I loved the finished rug so much I made a bowl like it which is in my Etsy shop.
I've used lots of scraps making these two items but let me tell you it didn't even put a dent in the scrap pile!
Today I will being finishing up this black, white and gray table runner. I made it with the leftovers of a charm pack from Connecting Threads and a few black and white prints from my collection.
This evening while I watch my struggling Phillies play I plan to work on this test shawl for a designer on Ravelry. I'm using Knit Picks Comfy fingering yarn.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

I haven't posted in a while, again. I've been very busy making so I'm using that as my excuse.
I've tested some crochet patterns (doing one now). I've completed a few shawls, some project bags, a few custom bags and of course some bowls.
Today I'm here to share my quilt for Hands2Help. I'm so very happy to be participating this year as I missed the cut off last year. I chose fabrics that reminded me of Spring and I really hope this quilt makes someone happy.

Here are a few of my other makes this Spring.

You may remember a while back I introduced you to my new then Etsy group, The Hot Bobbin. Well we now have a blog, so I if you have time go take a look here.

And I can't leave without sharing some new bowls.

I'm linking this post with Hands2Help. Go see all the beautiful quilts being donated.

Making Things

Although I should be finishing up my 3rd WIP of the year I've actually only finished 1 1/2! (yes I'm still making coiled rope bowls)
The quilt top I finally finished is from 2011. I remember when I put it away it just wasn't coming out like I'd envisioned it. When I took it out to work on it last week I decided to just nix the solids I was going to use and make it a small table topper.

I also started a new table runner with one of my all time favorite color combinations, coral and khaki. These fabrics are from Riley Blake.

On the crochet front, I've finished Lady Rosamund and Give Into Fall. Both of these shawls just need to be blocked.

And of course here are the bowls!

After missing the sign up date last year for Hands 2 Help I was sure not to do the same thing this year. If you are interested click the icon on the right side of the page at the top.

Waiting for Spring

Although it really hasn't been a bad winter here in the north east, we are expecting a snow storm this evening. Actually the weather has been a bit strange. By next Wednesday it will be in the 70's! Gotta love that El Nino! So I've been doing my best to bring Spring to my sewing room with all of those gorgeous colors I love!

This week I'm finishing up a rainbow mini for my swap partner on IG.

I used this Laura Gunn Painter's Canvas fabric I won in an Instagram giveaway. It's paired with my favorite moda muslin that I buy by the bolt. It's taken me a while to come up with an idea for quilting this, but today is the day.
On the crochet front, I have 4 rows to go on my Lady Rosamund. Of course I already have a crochet along project ready and waiting when Rosamund is done.

And I couldn't end this post without showing the latest coiled rope bowls.

I'm not addicted to them or anything.........

Been Busy

I haven't blogged in a few weeks but I have been sewing. I won't lie I've made many more coiled rope bowls as well!
I made this table runner with Bali Pops and of course none of the yards and yards of batik fabric I had matched. So I was forced to buy a few pieces from Handcocks of Paducah to bind it!

I chose the wood grain batik for the binding.

I still crochet in the evenings and as usual I have many projects going at the same time. I'm working on this shawl with a natural dyed yarn. It was dyed with Sumac!

This is the other project I'm working on, another test pattern for Mad Cap Fancies. It's one of the last in her series "Downton Farewell". This is Lady Rosamund.

I have made 28 coiled rope bowls so far and I'm still loving them! I'm using lots of scraps and many ugly fabrics that are not so ugly when made into bowls. Ha ha

Quilty Items and a Destash Party

I thought you all would like to see a few things I made before Christmas that have nothing to do with coiled rope. The first three are items I made for an Instagram swap in Nov. Sad I can't show you what I got in the swap because my partner never sent me anything!

I made lots of bags this year small and large. Totes, cross body, cosmetic and wristlets! Totes were the first items I ever sold and I still enjoy making them.

Today I finally had to give in and do a bit of cleaning which took most of the morning hours. Now that I'm finally in the sewing room I hope to actually do some piecing and then quilting so I'll have some colorful items to share.

Some of you may remember I'm on the Quiltsy Team on Etsy. We are having a big destash party. Come check it out!

Two Trivets and a New Bowl

I'll admit it! I am addicted to this coiled rope thing. I just can't stop grabbing and wrapping scraps. It's funny though, I'm using lots of scraps but I don't see any difference in my scrap bins. I am having fun so I guess that counts for something.

I am in a mini quilt swap on Instagram, so I promise to show some real quilty stuff in this space soon. It happens to have a rainbow theme which is right up my alley!

Two Days in a Row!

I spent a bit of time yesterday going through batik fabric in my effort to clean, purge and reorganize. I found 2 batik scraps and converted one into a coiled rope bowl right away. This bowl is 3" at the base, 7" at the top and 2" high. This bowl was made with 7" by WOF scrap.

Once I have everything in it's former home or new home I plan to buy myself a new chair. The one I have now is done and it costs more to replace the hydraulic cylinder than to purchase a new one. Do you have a favorite chair? I'm open to suggestions.

On the crochet front I just finished a test pattern for Mad Cap Fancies. I love the results and it's blocking as I type this. Here's a picture but I'm sure it will look better once the blocking opens it up a bit.
I am linking up with Cynthia over at Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap! Stop by and check it out.

Happy New Year

It's a new year and I've said this before but with a fresh start I'm going to see if I can restart this blog!
The end of the year found me very busy just like everyone else. Lots of gifts to make, orders to fill and Christmas decorating.
My family had another successful auction and pantry party with all proceeds going to help families in need at Christmas time. A new addition to the Quarterman clan is expected next month, another great niece for me.
My new Etsy team The Hot Bobbin is doing well and we are hoping for a good year in 2016.
On the things I am making front, I have become addicted to coiled rope bowls! There are about 5 in my shop and I made large ones as Christmas gifts. It's something I wanted to try for a long time but thought it would be difficult. Well it's so easy and the combinations are as versatile as your fabric stash. Here are a few of them
