I think Friday is a great day for a giveaway. So in honor of my 150th follower and post 330 I’m having a giveaway!
You can win this ZOE by Jennifer Young charm pack.
Just leave a comment answering these questions. Do you hand quilt? If so what is your favorite thread?
I will leave this giveaway open until Friday Aug. 03.

I used to hand-quilt, but have not for awhile. I will use some of the heavier weight Aurifil thread the next time I do some hand-quilting.
Thanks for the great giveaway chance and congratulations on reaching a blogging milestone!
I hand quilt - I like Gutermann, but also like using Perle Cotton #8 for the large stitch for accent.
I cannot truly say I hand quilt. There is a project I started 5 years ago, a small wallhanging, that I'm handquilting... very primitively, I might add. I have yet to finish it. I love handquilting, but not my own.
Congratulations! I don't hand quilt. I use a domestic sewing machine. I like Gutermann and Mettler. I just tried quilting with a cotton variegated Sulky and loved how it looked. However, it did seem to create a lot of lint in my machine.
I have never hand quilted, but it is on my to do list of learning.
I am on my second hand-quilting project. I've used two kinds of thread. I honestly can't give you a great opinion. I do enjoy the process and I "appreciate" watching everything come together more when I hand-quilt.
I rarely hand quilt unless I'm adding a little extra to the machine quilting! then I use a perle cotton #8
Congratulations on so many posts! I don't hand quilt, but I love to make quilts with hand stitcheries in them. Working on another Crabapple Hill pattern as we speak! My go-to thread is Aurifil's 12 wt threads. It gives the same effect as 3 strands of DMC, but you don't have to separate any strands!
Cheers!
Hi Char - for the very first quilt I made (a sampler/beginners class) we were instructed to hand quilt it - sadly I didn't get very far with it and I haven't tried since. I didn't know enough about marking patterns etc on then and didn't have the wonderful network of friends then like I do now , for help.
I do not hand quilt, but I do sew pieces together by hand when I do English paper piecing. Right now I am making a hexie quilt with 320 hexies. I am using Gutermann polyester to baste and to sew them together. Some day I want to make an entire quilt by hand. I think I would need someone to teach me though. I don't think I could pick it up like I did machine quilting. Thanks for the giveaway!
I only use hand quilting on small art quilts now, so I use mostly pearl cotton threads. Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway.
I handquilted a twin size quilt about 15 years ago. That cured me! It's a beautiful art & I wish I had enjoyed to process. Now days I'm only interested in using it on small quilts as an accent using perle cotton.
Yes,I do.I hand quilt and use Gutermann threads for quilt and Finca perle 16 for accent onto small projects,bags,coasters...
Comgratulations and more to come. Thanks for the chance!!
I am not a hand quilter but love the look of it!I used to use Guterman.
I am a handquilter and just recently bought Mettler thread for handquilting, it is waxed and beautiful to work with!
I've never handquilted - it terrifies me!
I use to hand quilt but enjoy zipping through a quilt with my machine. I love machine quilting with Aurifil and would probably use it for hand quilting. Thanks for a chance.
I don't hand quilt. When machine quilting I use the same thread I use for piecing, which is usually Connecting Threads Essential cotton. It doesn't produce as much lint as some other threads and the price is great!
My best quilting buddy has a granddaughter named Zoe. This would make a great gift for her! Thank you for the opportunity.
Congrats on great milestone!
I do hand stitching with Perle 8 ball thread and sometimes cosmo or DMC floss.
Congrats! I don't hand quilt much but I usually use Guterman.
I do not hand quilt, but some day I want to do it. I've been too intimidated to try a larger project like that. Thanks for the chance to win. :)
I don't hand quilt - but am thinking of learning
I don't hand quilt...but oneday plan to
I don't hand quilt, but admire anyone who does. Thanks for a chance to win this great fabric! :)
I do hand quilt & have for more than 20 yrs. I used 2 do it for customers but carpel tunnel made me give it up, so now its just 4 myself and my favorite thread is YLI
I do not hand quilt. I have carpal tunnel and go burning to numb quickly if I do hand work. Thanks for the chance to win. I enjoy reading your blog.
Used to hand quilt but since Arthur struck I don't do it as often.I am in the process of learning free motion quilting on my new pfaff and have used Coats,Gutterman and Mettler threads. Also used embroidery to quilt baby quilts eons ago.
I have only hand quilted a couple of small items. I have carpal so holding a needle for too long can get painful. I used Gutterman quilting thread. I love the look of it and usually am very jealous of the women who do accomplish it...it is so pretty!
i hand quilted a few of my earlier projects and i used signature cotton thread when i did. now i am unable to hand stitch due to arthritis, but still get joy form machine piecing and quilting.
thanks for the chance to win char!!!
I have done some hand quilting, but not recently. The last project I used Coats&Clark quilting thread. I always run my thread through 'thread heaven' each time I fill my needle. (reminds me, I need to get that finished up!) Now I mostly quilt with my long arm. Way faster and easier on my body.
I do hand quilt, and usually use Gutermann thread. However, I inherited a bunch of old YLI wooden spools, and I have used and enjoyed them as well. I was worried a bit about their integrity and how well they would hold up, but they were waxed, I think, and seemed perfectly strong to me. For the first time, I am doing a big stitch with embroidery floss, and I like the way that is going, too. A long way to say, I'm easy - I just like to hand quilt and the thread doesn't make much difference for me.
I've only done a little bit of hand quilting, and used Gutermann thread.
Congrats!!I haven't hand quilted, so can't help with thread choices. I keep telling myself that I'd like to try, but it hasn't happened yet. It's that - so much fabric, so little time- problem, I think. Thanks for the chance.
I do hand quilt, but the largest project I ever did was a wall quilt and I pieced and quilted that one for a year! I guess I am old school because I like to use J&P Coats Dual Duty Quilting thread (aka Coats & Clark.)
I hand quilt and machine quilt both...one to go with me and then quickies done on the machine at home...I like Gutterman hand quilting thread...the colors are nice, but the main thing is it is good quality, and goes on sale for half price at Joanne's! I have had my eye on this line of fabric for a while...thx for the chance to win!
