Red Scraps On Saturday

I've joined the Rainbow Scrap Challenge again this year. I'm really hoping to do better keeping up this year like I did when Angela first started this challenge. The color for January is red. Red and purple are the colors I have the least of but that's relative because I have so much of everything! 😁

None of my scraps are organized. I have fat quarters to yardage on shelves in the closet and anything smaller is in a bin. Each color has it's own bin (or bins). 😒

Yesterday I dug in the scrap bin and started cutting 3"x 4" rectangles

I stitched them into blocks and I plan to continue to make these every month.

I also thought this would be another opportunity to make a few additional items for my shop each month. Like mug rugs, table runners and of course coiled rope items.

So I pulled out the red batik scraps and created this.

Today I plan to cut more rectangles and lots of strips because I love string quilts and it's time I made another one. I'm thinking of doing a few economy blocks each month as well.
I can't wait to see what everyone else is making with red scraps, so I'll use part of this cold snowy day checking out all the beautiful creations over at So Scrappy

Linking up with RSC2022

Enjoy the weekend!

Best of luck with staying on track for RSC22. LOVE that scrappy RED rope bowl!! It would fit the expanded project list of the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge on my blog at the end of the month. I run it in conjunction with Angela's challenge and hope you will join in!

Like you, red and purple (and brown) are in the least supply in my stash and scraps. Glad for you to have made a start on your blocks for the year. Such an along is good motivation for using-up scraps. Lately, I'm on an improv kick, and so have been digging into solid and print scraps to make up blocks as I go. I'm finding it a bit challenging, but in a good way. I'm learning!

Your red rectangle blocks look very cheery. And the bowl is gorgeous, it looks rather difficult to do.

Those are great ideas for using scraps. I like the rectangle block idea.
