Wayback Wednesday

I know I've mentioned here before that the Log Cabin block is my favorite. Today's Wayback Wednesday is a wall hanging I made to hang in my laundry room. Here is picture of it right after completion on my sewing room door. It was made in 2004 and I chose these colors as the paint for the laundry room was sort of a hot chocolate color. I really like the way this quilt came out. The blocks are 6 inch (my favorite) and the center block is paper pieced. All of these fabrics were pulled from my stash.

Here are a couple of the Christmas potholders I've been making. Some for the bazaar and some for my Etsy. I'm not really a fan of the normal red/green Christmas combo theme, but some are so my sister said I should include these. As I was making these I discovered I really don't have a lot of Christmas prints. So I had to buy some at the Cyber Monday sale at Connecting Threads.


Ok, it's back to work for me. I still have a lot of sewing to finish before Christmas!

Weekend Sewing

I got a little sewing finished between Cyber Monday fabric purchases. A Mug rug and

a set for the Christmas Bazaar.

GIFTS

Lucky me! Sara, of Sew Sara sent me all of these dots! She asked for a name for her dot quilt and my suggestion ( Dot's Crazy!) was the one she chose. Thank you so much Sara. I will use some of these in my Snowball quilt. I'm also very excited about these books I won from the Lark Crafts giveaway. The first book 500 Art Quilts was just about to go on my Christmas list. Now I'm sure I can find something else to take it's place on the list! This book includes a quilt made by my friend Diana Bracy, who I met through Quilt With Us.

I hope I can find a few minutes in the weeks ahead to sit down with a cup of Jasmine tea and these 2 books.

Not Much Sewing

Good Tuesday morning. There hasn't been much sewing going on here lately. I always have good intentions when I go into the sewing room, but not much sewing is happening. I keep telling myself it's because I'm storing up ideas. (sounds good, doesn't it?)

Anyway I realized I hadn't taken a picture of the Triangle Challenge quilt for my Scrap Bags group. So here it is. There are lots of old fabrics in this quilt from my doll making days. Some have been used in other scrap quilts and will be used yet again, as it seems they are multiplying on the shelf! Although there's not much sewing going on, I have been making at least one dish cloth a night. Sometimes more. These will be used for gifts, for the Christmas Bazaar and a few for my shop.

I'm in the sewing room now. So I hope to have some progress to show soon. Even if it's only potholders or mug rugs!

Wayback Wednesday

Since the weather here is changing, I thought you might like to see one of my UFOs that reminds me of warmer weather. Doesn't this remind you of a picnic on a nice Spring or Summer day. Well only 5 or 6 more months until it's picnic time again. Maybe by then I'll have this quilt finished! This Fan quilt was made from a pattern by Fons and Porter. It's called Fancy Fans, from the book Quick Quilts from the Heart. Of course it doesn't look much like the pattern. Me being one of those who doesn't like to follow along completely! When I started this quilt I was so excited. Don't know what happened, but my tastes have changed so much now it's kind of hard to finish it. I'm going to try very hard to work on this in January after all the holiday madness is over. I hope!

Saturday Scrapbag

It's Saturday already? This week went by very quickly. I guess like everyone else, I could use a few more hours in my day.

I spent some time this week working on these. They're business card holders. My sister used hers as a mini wallet this week on her trip to Connecticut. She says it's the perfect size (4 1/2 x 2 3/4) for your ID and a credit card.

I made lots of these for her to sell at the Christmas Bazaar. These are the dark colors, I still have to make the brights. By the way, these were made from scraps.
Not much more progress on the Peppermint Twist quilt. It's too big for my tiny design wall. So here it is lying on the floor on the makeshift design wall. Also known as a flannel backed tablecloth.

The pictures aren't that good but I think you can see the twist running from the top right to the bottom left. I like it so far. Now I just need time to sew it together.

I will be making my wonderful husband a Pot Pie this weekend. What will you do?

Tuesday's Trimmings

Everyone knows I love scraps. I've been working on these here and there. Just grab a scrap and sew. I've joined Sew Scraps Along with Pleasant Home. If you're interested click on the button on my sidebar. These are the perfect blocks to use up your scraps. Anything goes!
In the evenings I've been doing a little crocheting. I'm making these dishcloths for gifts and for sale in my Etsy shop. They are fun to make and not as time consuming as Afghans, although I'm working on 2 Afghans as well.


Peppermint Twist is coming along nicely. I hope to show some pictures of it's progress soon.

Monday

Good Monday morning! I had a busy weekend. First I shampooed the carpets on the main level of my house. That was Friday. Needless to say I wasn't good for much after that. For the rest of the day I sat in m sewing room and hand sewed bindings. I went to Hobby Lobby on Saturday with my sister to buy yarn. That turned into an all day trip as the store is about an hour away. On the way back we had to stop at Joann. On Sunday morning I made the usual big Sunday breakfast. After breakfast my wonderful husband and I went grocery shopping. We also went to a new produce store whose opening was very much needed! The place was packed.

After arriving home and unpacking numerous bags, I made dinner, cleaned the kitchen and finally got to sit down and watch the Eagles with my hubby and crochet for the rest of the evening.

Ok, so you're probably wondering what this fabric swatch has to do with this post. Are you one of those people who puts all your coupons in one place and only looks at them when you need one for a particular store or item? Well I am. While going through my coupons this morning I discovered one for this fabric. It's by April Cornell. Now available at Joann!
