Blue Saturday

I’ve joined the Rainbow Scrap Challenge again this year and I really need to keep up this year. Using up some of the thousands of scraps I have can only help with the organization of the fabric, yarn room. I pulled a few blue scraps and made some nine patch blocks.

I’m thinking of making 9 patch, 1/4 square log cabin and slab improv blocks each month. I’d also like to complete one project every month. Something small like a bowl, mug rug or table topper.

So this week I made 3 nine patch blocks and one improv block.

While digging through the scrap bin I found these. They're left over from a quilt I donated. I think I've come up with a plan for them.

I joined the Moda Charm Pack Challenge this weekend. I have lots of 5" charm squares but only needed one for this challenge. I chose an oldie, Aloha Girl. I've paired it with Moda muslin.

Here is my layout but it could change. Sorry this isn't the best photo.

I'm linking up with RSC2023  If you have lots of scraps maybe you'd like to join in the fun! Go take a look to see what everyone else is making.

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful projects and the colour challenge works. Just do a little bit here and there, before you know it, it will be quilts.

I've tried finishing small projects but they get dwarfed by the big ones. maybe someday

Welcome back to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, Char! It looks like you are off to a great start with sewing your Dark/Bright BLUE fabric scraps. Regarding your goal of a small project each month, please consider joining the ABC (Table) SCRAPS Challenge over on my blog. Details at the tab along the top of the page.

Nice that you're participating in two challenges/alongs that will keep you motivated. Interestingly, all the charm packs I've ever had were ones given to me, like in swag bags. Two years ago my modern guild created a challenge to use charm packs, and mini-charm packs to make a quilt. I used up all of mine! It was a great way to weed through scraps, and help get them under control. Hope you find great success with using yours.

Welcome to the blue month at RSC. So glad you are joining in with your nine patches. Always a great block to have on hand -- so many fun ways to work them into quilt.

I like your block ideas for RSC and your plan to make/complete something each month. Great goals and I love your blue scraps. The quilt block made from the charm pack is really scrappy happy!
